Betrayal

“I’d like to think I did more good than harm in my time, but I wondered how you measured it.” – One Right Thing by Matthew Iden

Yesterday we drove 325 miles to Sherman, TX. Six hours on the road. Enough time for my mind to bounce around.

I recalled an old friend and a personal struggle he was having. He wondered if he was a good person.

I couldn’t help him. I believed he was a good human being but then, in reality, just how much do any of us know about each other? What demons lurk in the dark corners of our souls?

“The greatest cheat, the one a person never got over, was betrayal by a friend and the subsequent loss of faith in one’s fellow man” – “House of the Rising Sun” by James Lee Burke
