“The only thing in the world worth a damn is the strange, touching, pathetic, awesome nobility of the human spirit” – A Deadly Shade of Gold by John D. Macdonald
A few days ago, I reunited with an old friend I had lost track of 15 years ago. It was so nice to relive old memories, to hear his voice and sense the heartbeat of an old friendship.
A reunion like that doesn’t happen very often and that makes the occasion so sweet.
Most of us have moments of flashback and memories when we think of and wonder whatever happened to old friends.
The people of my life and the memories we share are important to me. After all, they are part of the fabric of my life. So it is that as the years slip away, I think of them more often with fondness and curiosity. I sincerely hope they all had good lives.
And it would please me to know that a few of them remember me with fondness and wonder whatever became of that crazy guy.
