Where was I?

There are lots of people who mistake their imagination for their memory.– Josh Billings

Other than the accelerating approach of my ultimate demise, the assault on my memory is the most uncomfortable aspect of becoming a bona fide member of the senior group. For me anyway.

Too often, I utter phrases like “what were talking about?” or “where were we?” or “have you seen my __________? (fill in the blanks) or “darn, I lost my train of thought”.

Oh my God – I’m losing my mind.

No you’re not.

As we age, our brains store a growing data base of knowledge, experiences, and hard learned lessons. Plus, all of that info has to be categorized and assigned the proper importance and location between one’s ears.

Sometimes it takes my brain longer to search through all that 70+ years of life to find the answer to – “where did I put my glasses?” Yours is quicker because your head is mostly empty. So put that in your weed pipe you idiot.

That’s my story and I’m stickin to it.
