First Day
Moved to a new gate today. Too busy setting up shop to really notice immediate surroundings. Did notice the old house across the road. Didn’t give it much thought.
Second Day
Some traffic. Primarily moving stuff. Heard some weird sounds late that night. Creepy.
Third Day
Land owner shows up. Says the house across the road is haunted. Some kind of murder took place there in 1895. Come on Man. Don’t screw with me like that. And don’t tell my wife. She’ll freak out.
Fourth Day
2 am. Gaby wakes me up. Says there are strange sounds outside. She’s scared.
“Are you serious?”
“Yes I’m serious. There’s something out there.”
“I thought I heard something the other day. Probably just an owl.”
Fifth Day
10 am. That sound again. That windmill is actually turning. It squeaks. Soooooo….that’s it. Haunted. Scared of sounds in the night. Give me a break.
Decided to check the place out. Walked through the ancient house and other dilapidated buildings, or what is left of them anyway.
The landowner stopped by today and I asked him about that house. Says it is probably the home of the original settlers. Possibly built in the 1880’s. Notice the water tank is made of wood. That gives some idea of the age.
A google search turned up a few facts. This area was the site of the first Polish settlement in the U.S. The area was settled by Poles, Czechs, and Germans mid-19th century.
That part of Europe. Didn’t Dracula hang out in that area. Just sayin.
The original owner of this land was the Banduch family. Banduch is a Czech name.
All interesting stuff. Doesn’t change the fact that we still hear strange sounds in the night.
Gaby………..next time you go to town, stop by the church and pick up some Holy Water.

Oooooh, a haunted gate. Glad you explored by light of day and found the squeaky windmill. Always good to know what you’re up against. Now you can tilt at windmills, Don Quixote.

Well…you wouldn’t like our spot. House is about 50 yards away. Even if it isn’t haunted….it is alive with rats, mice, and snakes. Reasons enough to stay away.

I tried ghost hunting, once. Just got a handful of sheet. Uh oh, I could get spirited away with comments like that. But, seriously…..who ya gonna call?? Do you have any earbuds or headphones? There is an iPhone app which will play white noise, rain, whatever, so you can’t hear any background noises….or thumps in the night. The is probably not a luxury in your business.
And, really seriously, this time. You know me, I am very curious and anything out of the ordinary fascinates me, so keep us posted! If you have any online info on what happened, I would be interested.

He said there was a murder there many years ago. Couldn’t decide whether he was B.S. ing me or not. Is there such a thing as a “friendly” haunting? Not in my book. But of course I don’t believe in that sort of thing. Not me. I’m too smart for that. What was that? Did you hear something? I heard something. I’m not crazy you know.

I’ve always been fascinated by haunted places…from a distance. Listen to your wife…get the Holy water and use your best prayers. Did the owner say if this was a “friendly” haunted place? Was there a tragedy in the past? Keep us updated on this. Vickie
