“There are three kinds of men: The ones that learn by reading. The few who learn by observation. The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.” Will Rogers
Seems like an odd coincidence. This afternoon I watched a special on TV about feral pigs and just how bad and nasty they are. Most of you are probably aware of the problem. For those who may not know, feral pigs are a serious problem in many States and particularly here in Texas. They destroy land, crops, and are dangerous to humans, especially the young and old.
They also breed like teenagers on steroids. So…………………………….what to do? Well, Texans hunt them, trap them and in general do whatever it takes to eradicate them.
Several hours after watching the documentary on TV, while catching the 5 pm news, I suddenly hear the whop, whop of a helicopter. Long story short, a helicopter just like the picture is skimming the ground and hunting feral pigs anywhere from 50 to 100 yards from our gate.
We watched them fly around, up and down, for about 30 minutes. During that time the hunter fired at least a dozen times with a very high powered rifle. Don’t know if he hit anything but they did land once.
“If you can’t imitate him, don’t copy him.” Yogi Berra
Aren’t you a little worried that you might have been hit by a stray bullet? I hate it when dove season arrives and hunters come on my land (not posted, but still they have to climb a fence to get there) and hunt dove. Our roof has been the landing field for pellets several times and we’re inside the city limits! I’d hate for a helicopter to fly over with men inside shooting a high powered rifle!

Not really. A stray bullet never entered my mind. Maybe it should have. Anyway, the shooter was shooting straight down. Another thing you would hate would be a wild pig runnning around your yard. It happens.

Don’t know if they killed a pig or not but I suspect they did. Thanks for your interest.
