Patient Care

“I used to eat a lot of natural foods until I learned that most people die of natural causes.”

I had the following conversation this week.

doctor is going to catch you

“Hello……….this is Doctor XXX’s nurse. May I help you?”

“I’m a patient of Dr. XXX. I’m calling from South Texas and I’d like to speak with the Doctor.”

doctor

“Well………he’s not available. Could I help you?”

“I don’t know. I’m calling about my CT scan. I need to know the results and what the next step is. I can’t afford to take time off from work just to drive 900 miles round trip for a 15 minute conversation and I’m hoping the Doctor will discuss the results with me on the phone.”

“The Doctor does not discuss these things on the phone. You need to come in.”

“Huh………………I don’t understand. My Cardiologist, Urologist, and family Doctor talk to me on the phone all the time. Why won’t he?”

“It’s his policy”

“So…….if the CT scan reveals a problem requiring immediate attention the Doctor won’t discuss it with me unless I quit work and drive 500 miles for an office visit. Is that what you are telling me?”

“Yes”

“I’m getting a new Doctor. That’s my policy.”

What a jerk. I hope your new doc is a good one. There are sure some arrogant ones in that field, for sure. Doctors are no longer on the pedestal they once were, but if every business operated like the Allopathic Medical business, no one would still have open doors. The sad part is we have to be very knowledgeable about what is being prescribed for us. I know there are some great Doctors, but sadly the minority, in my opinion. I also fear it is going to get worse before it gets better.

There ARE some fantastic surgical procedures of which I am in awe, so it is not all bad.
